For calibration of imaging devices
High resolution chrome markings
Transparent glass or white glass
Made to Order
PURPOSE
The Line and Dot Micrometer Stage is designed for calibration of imaging systems used in precision measurement tasks. It provides reference features that allow users to verify pixel-to-distance conversion and detect errors caused by image processing algorithms such as pixel dithering. With a clearly structured grid of dot and line gratings, the slide supports accurate scaling, distortion mapping, and repeatability assessment in digital imaging environments including machine vision, metrology, microscopy, and automated inspection systems.
CONFIGURATION
PATTERN DESCRIPTION
The pattern features multiple 10 mm × 10 mm arrays of dots and lines, each spaced with a 5 mm gap between adjacent arrays. Dot arrays use a pitch equal to twice the dot diameter (e.g., 25 µm dots are placed at 50 µm centres). Line arrays follow the same principle, with pitch set to twice the line width (e.g., 50 µm lines at 100 µm centres).
The Standard Resolution target includes: 25 µm, 50 µm, 100 µm, 200 µm, 300 µm, 400 µm, 500 µm, 750 µm
The High Resolution target includes: 5 µm, 6 µm, 8 µm, 10 µm, 25 µm, 50 µm, 75 µm, 100 µm, 200 µm, 300 µm, 400 µm
Low-resolution PDF previews of the pattern are available for download in the DOWNLOAD tab.
MATERIAL
Soda Lime Glass is the most commonly used substrate for calibration targets due to its balance of optical quality and cost. It provides high flatness and minimal surface defects, with excellent UV transparency from 350 nm upwards. It has a thermal expansion coefficient of 93 × 10⁻⁷ (approximately 10 ppm) and 88% transmittance over the 375–750 nm range. Flatness class: 5 µm.
White Diffuser Glass is a semi-opaque soda lime glass with inherent diffusive properties, not reliant on coatings or laminations. It provides ~30% light transmission and is polished on both sides, producing near-Lambertian light transmission with slight surface specular reflection. Suitable for even illumination and use as a viewing screen or optical attenuator. Flatness class: 2 µm.
Anti-glare spray coatings are available to reduce surface reflectivity for reflected-light applications.
TURNAROUND
Standard production turnaround is 5 working days from receipt of order. Expedited services can be arranged for time-critical applications.
INSPECTION
All photomasks undergo a comprehensive inspection process. Key parameters such as Critical Dimension (CD) and feature uniformity are measured and recorded. High-magnification images (Nikon MM40 at 900×, OGP ZIP 300 at 400×) are stored with production data. For sectors requiring compliance documentation—such as medical or automotive—optional inspection certificates can be included with the order.
Standard: Full inspection performed; no documentation supplied.
Certificate of Conformance: Confirms compliance with internal inspection standards.
Certificate of Measurement: One line/dot width and one pitch dimension are verified for each array size. Additional features can be measured on request. CAD or marked drawing required.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: The standard pattern doesn’t match my requirements. Can a custom version be produced?
A: Yes. While the patterns shown are standard configurations, we can produce custom designs based on your specifications. Please note that pricing and lead times will vary depending on complexity and volume.
Q: What is the typical lead time from order to dispatch?
A: We aim to keep these products in stock for immediate dispatch. However, please allow up to 5 working days depending on order volume and current production workload. For urgent requirements, contact us directly to check availability.
Q: Can you provide a high-resolution image or scaled preview of the pattern?
A: Yes. High-resolution graphic previews can be emailed upon request. Please contact us via Live Support or email to receive sample files.
Q: Are other materials available for this product?
A: Yes. Standard versions are produced using low-reflective chrome on soda lime glass, but we can supply alternatives including quartz, Borofloat®, or other substrates. Masking layers such as aluminium, gold, or ITO can also be specified. Minimum order quantities apply for non-standard materials.
Q: Can the glass be supplied in different thicknesses?
A: Yes, alternate glass thicknesses can be supplied on request, subject to material availability and minimum order quantities.
Q: Can I specify exact tolerances or reference dimensions for inspection?
A: Yes. For customers requiring dimensional validation, we offer Certificate of Measurement services. You will need to supply a CAD file or annotated drawing identifying the features to be measured.
Q: Are these slides reusable or suitable for cleaning?
A: The chrome patterns are durable and can be cleaned with appropriate optical cleaning agents. Avoid abrasive materials. Reuse is possible depending on your application and handling practices.
Q: Is there a minimum order quantity?
A: There is no minimum order for standard stock items. For custom designs or non-standard materials, minimum order quantities will apply.
