Inkjet Printed Calibration Charts
This page describes our technical capabilities for digitally printed targets using Drop-on-Demand Micro Piezo Inkjet technology. These are printed on high-quality aluminium composite panels (Dibond) using UV-cured pigmented inks.
RESOLUTIONS
We offer two resolutions based on the droplet size used during printing. Smaller droplets give sharper edges and better feature resolution.
- Standard Resolution — 10 picolitre drops: suitable for features down to 2.0mm, edge roughness typically ±0.2mm.
- High Resolution — 3.7 picolitre drops: suitable for features down to 0.5mm, edge roughness typically ±0.06mm.
FEATURE TOLERANCES
These tolerances apply to individual elements of the pattern (e.g. line width, spot diameter, etc). Higher resolution settings provide tighter control over the Critical Dimension (CD):

POSITIONAL ACCURACY & PITCH
Positional accuracy refers to the placement of individual features in relation to the design. Pitch accuracy describes the spacing between repeated elements in an array.
INK THICKNESS & DENSITY
Each colour of ink has different physical properties. The figures below show measured film thickness and Optical Density (OD) per single coat:
DIMENSIONAL TOLERANCES (CHART EXTENTS)
We use calibrated OGP and Nikon MM systems to verify the physical size of printed charts. The table shows maximum variation from design size:
INSPECTION OPTIONS
Every chart undergoes visual and dimensional checks. Options are available for formal certificates:
- Standard Inspection: Visual flaw check, dimension check, CD measurement, and digital photo.
- Certificate of Conformance: Adds formal signed documentation with tolerances confirmed.
- Measurement Certificate: Adds OGP measurements of chart extents, one feature, and one pitch spacing.
