CALIBRATION & MEASUREMENT SERVICE
This is a one-off, bespoke measurement service for flat 2D parts. You define the inspection criteria, including which features to measure, how many dimensions, and the applicable pass/fail tolerances. The service covers up to 20 specified features or positions. As this is a custom service, we will provide an individual quote based on the materials and drawings you supply. After inspection, a full Certificate of Conformance is issued.
All dimensional measurements are conducted in controlled environmental conditions of 21 °C (±1 °C) and 50% humidity (±5%), using an OGP ZIP 300 co-ordinate measuring machine at 400× magnification. Features smaller than 200 µm are measured using a Nikon MM40 microscope with variable magnification from 50× to 960×, depending on the requirements.
NIST LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE
This service is delivered to NIST Level 2 standards: “A calibration, which may be carried out in-house, performed to a documented method by competent staff, using appropriate reference standards/equipment. The reference standards/equipment will need to be calibrated by a laboratory that can demonstrate competence, measurement capability and traceability (e.g. a UKAS-accredited calibration laboratory).”
Environmental conditions during measurement are recorded on the certificate, enabling results to be referenced back to standardised conditions if required.
MEASUREMENTS
Dimensional: A series of measurements is performed from a defined origin point. Values are taken along X, Y, and diagonal axes to confirm scale, alignment, and squareness of the part.
Feature Sizes: Specific features can be measured to determine critical dimensions (CDs). Each measured feature is documented and accompanied by a high-resolution digital image, retained in the inspection record.
